A Historic Wine Estate at the Gates of Bordeaux
1000 Years of History between Tradition and Renaissance
Located in Arsac, in the heart of Médoc, Château d “Arsac is one of the oldest wine estates in the region. Its history dates back to the 12th century, when it belonged to the Lords of”“Arsac, before becoming the property of Thomas de Montaigne in the 16th century. Once the largest vineyard in Médoc, the estate experienced a long period of” abandonment after the phylloxera crisis.
In 1986, Philippe Raoux passionately revitalized the estate. He undertook the replanting of the vineyard and the restoration of the buildings, breathing new contemporary life into it. Today, Château d’Arsac is recognized for its unique viticultural and artistic quality.
Château d’Arsac’s vineyard spans 108 hectares of vines, uniquely distributed as follows:
- 54 hectares in AOC Margaux, one of the most prestigious appellations of Médoc.
- 32 hectares in AOC Haut-Médoc, renowned for its age-worthy wines and aromatic balance.
- 4 hectares in AOC Bordeaux Blanc Sauvignon, offering white wines of great freshness.
Its sandy-gravelly terroir, benefiting from the influence of the Gironde estuary, gives birth to fine, elegant, and complex wines.

Classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel since 2020, Château d’Arsac produces 200,000 bottles per year. Its wines, made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, are aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, offering a beautiful structure, fruity aromas, and long aging potential.
Château Le Monteil d’Arsac, Cru Bourgeois (AOC Haut-Médoc)
With 15,000 bottles produced annually, this cuvée expresses the richness of Haut-Médoc. Aged for 6 months in barrels, it offers notes of red fruits, spices, and a silky palate.
